THE ORGANIZATION AS AN OPEN SYSTEM

As previously shown in our approach’s theoretical foundation, it is critical for the organization to recognize that the power of transformation lies in the ability to create, recreate, and execute the strategy, connecting it to the integrated business system’s key capabilities – leadership, organizational culture, sales, customer focus, business and support teams, structure and business processes – so growth and sustainability are impacted going forward, in its environment, while preserving the core.

In order to achieve this, it is fundamental to understand our client (and to help him learn to recognize himself) as a connected system that is permanently being impacted by changes in the environment, which must be processed by its internal system – that is, by the different organizational functions: sales, leadership, service, and teams. While processing this information from the environment, the different areas, according to their function, generate a new response to the environment, which makes growth and sustainability viable. In a few words, the problem is usually reduced, although not simplistically, to reconnecting the organization–environment system.

Consequently, our role as consultants is to ensure the connection between the strategy and the priority key capabilities to impact, in order to generate a transformation process within the system that allows a new growth cycle and that facilitates the constitution of new capabilities required in the organization’s different areas and in its integrated system. Our consulting process leads the organization’s leaders and their teams to establish a new connection between the organization and its environment – that is, the organization–environment system – that creates internal and external exchanges of higher value and mutual growth and that enriches their customers’ experience.

The results of the Integrated Business Transformation process are reflected in behavioral changes on the organization and its people. These changes can be measured in the learning transfer achieved in the actual work situation and in the quantitative results that show change in adding value and in connecting the organization and its environment; for example, in terms of satisfied customers, distribution system improvements, market positioning, higher differentiation, achieved growth, and secured sustainability. In general, a change in results shows that the problematic or dysfunctional situations in specific business or organizational variables, which arose from a turbulent environment and could have originated the consulting process, have been positively modified and impacted.

In order to make true our intention of contributing to the creation of new articulations in the organization and its environment, which help new patterns in behavior to arise inside and outside the organization, it is fundamental to lead the organization’s members to achieve a connected competent consciousness of themselves and the organization as a whole. This degree of consciousness responds to the questions: What I must do differently and why? (as part of the formulation of the truth for me).
